5 Best Hot Springs in Costa Rica

Costa Rica has some of the world's most rejuvenating hot springs. So you can’t visit and miss the epic chance to relax in these therapeutic waters, surrounded by rainforest and volcanoes. Unfortunately, I only had time to visit one of the hot springs but I put together a list of all the ones I was considering!

1. Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa

If you have done any research about Costa Rica, you have probably seen this picture. These hot springs are located at Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa in Arenal. They have one of the largest network of hot springs including the Shangri-La Gardens. If you are a guest at the hotel, access is complimentary but it is restricted to adults only. I decided to splurge a little on my first trip and stay at this resort. I made sure to spend a few hours here relaxing and enjoying the various pools. You are still able to access the springs by purchasing a day pass - the pass starts at $81 and can increase to $109 during peak season. You will need to book in advance here.

2. Baldi Hot Springs - Arenal Volcano Region:

For a more family-friendly option, Baldi is another famous hot springs spot in Costa Rica. Similar to Tabacon, Baldi Hot Springs is also located near the Arenal Volcano and is considered the largest hot springs in the world! With about 25 thermal pools including waterslides and swim-up bars, Baldi offers a lively atmosphere. Day passes start at approximately $47 for adults and $35 for kids, providing access to the pools and other amenities. You don’t need to buy in advance, you can just show up and buy tickets at the door. More info here.

3. The Springs Resort and Spa

Overlooking Arenal, The Springs Resort and Spa offers a luxurious hot springs with multiple pools featuring cascading waterfalls, water slide, swim-up bars, and incredible views of the volcano. This was the second hotel I considered staying at but found it to be a bit more expensive than Tabacon but the springs look truly breathtaking! Day passes start at around $105 + tax, allowing access to the pools, gardens, and even wildlife exhibits. You will need to book in advance here.

4. Nayara Springs

Moving away from Arenal and tucked away in the Guanacaste region, Rio Perdido (meaning lost river) offers a totally nataural, unique hot springs experience surrounded by a forest reserve. Day passes start at around $65 and includes access to the thermal river, hiking trails, and the hot spring pools.

5. Eco Termales

For those seeking a more intimateexperie nce, Eco Termales is a hidden gem. This family-owned hot springs facility limits the number of visitors so you can have an exclusive experience - meaning you will need to book in advanced. They also have a rustic restaurant you can check out as well.. Day passes start at $47 and you can book here.
