A Travel Guide to Mallorca: 5 Day Trips You Should Take

Mallorca is a must-see if you are visiting Spain, it is beyond beautiful here and I wish I had more time. Everywhere you look is picturesque - even when you’re driving. In Mallorca, you will find some stunning beaches, the most charming streets, and a landscape at every turn. It’s truly romantic.

how to get there:

The best way to get there is by plane - it’s very accessible throughout all of Europe with many international and domestic flights. The flight from Barcelona is about an hour and runs multiple times a day.

how to get around:

Renting a car is the most convenient and flexible way to see the island. There is also public transport and guided tours that will take you to different parts of the island but a lot less flexible.

best time to go:

Busy season starts in June and ends in September where the weather will be hot and sunny. This also means more crowds. I don’t think you can go wrong whichever time of year you decide to visit.

PALMA

Palma is the island's capital and most likely where you fly into! It’s a great spot to make your home base as it has that big city feel and home to a lot of tours and transit if you are not renting a car. Old town is adorned with shopping, cute narrow streets that you can wander, restaurants and the old cathedral (La Seu). Check out the markets! They have a lot of cute stuff!

SES SALINES & SANTANYI

In Ses Salines, you will find some of the best beaches in Mallorca or even Spain. Be sure to visit some of them and definitely check out Cassai Grand Cafe! Santanyi has a weekly market that happens on Wednesdays and Saturdays, I highly recommend going here for one of the days. We missed this part of our trip because we got sick but it was the part we were the most excited about.

VALLDEMOSSA

Out in the mountains is the charming village of Valldemossa. This where we made our home base and we were obsessed with the town! It’s about a 40-minute drive from Palma and literally so picturesque - be sure you catch sunset there. Covered in cobblestone streets with shops and restaurants, it’s a quieter and a little more romantic part of town. You MUST eat at Es Taller!

SOLLER & PORT DE SOLLER

Soller and Port de Soller are about less than 2 miles from each other so you can visit both in one day. They are connected by a vintage train so I highly recommend taking that for an unique experience! Start in Soller and take it to Port de Soller where you will see lemon trees, cobblestone streets, and shopping!

DEIA

Deia is seriously so charming as it’s perched on a hill. However, there isn’t a ton to do here but there are some of the best restaurants. Some include: NAMA (get the iced tea!), Tramuntana, El Olivo, Cafe Miro, and Sa Fonda just to name a few.

You can also visit Cala Deia and eat lunch at Ca’s Patro March (you do need a reservation). Look, I’m going to keep it real and tell you something the other blogs won’t tell you about Cala Deia. IT is all rocks, there is no sand. Just know that it will not be a comfy lay out situation. This is not that evident in pictures and a lot of people there were disappointed. It’s a beautiful beach but there is also a lot of jellyfish, there are many people who got stung. And be prepared for the drive down, it’s scary!!

There is so much to explore in Mallorca, this doesn’t even begin to cover it. But it’s a good starting point! I also love The Blonde Abroads post and this itinerary about spending 10 days in Mallorca. Enjoy one of the most beautiful islands I’ve ever been to!
